Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.
1 Chronicles 29:11
Power pass power was a familiar saying for me growing up. It indicated that there are superior powers to superior power, and we used this when we were playing and for other situations. Also growing up, I think one of the thoughts that was instilled in me was the wisdom to not step on things you see on the floor or even let your car drive underneath clothes or leaves that might have been put on the road, the ideal was to swerve past it as a means to avoid any unnecessary life challenges. The mindset beyond this was that we had no idea the intention of whoever put the clothes down on the floor and this might have been used or put down for diabolical purposes. Superstitious, yes but better to be safe than sorry. So, I obeyed diligently till it became my nature really and i always avoided any thing on the road until recently.
So, I was driving to church and in my usual way, I sighted something on the floor and immediately swerved pass me and felt like a champion. Almost immediately, a question popped in my spirit that “Nifemi - Do you believe that He who lives in you is greater than everything in the world”. I didn’t answer the question, but I got the drift of the question, and I began to ask myself some conscious questions… As believers, do we understand the concept of the power of God, do we believe it, do we really think and accept that all power belongs to God. This is most times a head knowledge not a heart, deep inside our hearts we unconsciously accept that some powers in the world are greater than Gods and we do this by our behavior and reactions.
Going back to my first question, do you beleive that power pass power. One scripture story that fascinates me is the story of Jesus and the Legion. Scripture records that the demon saw Jesus far away and ran towards Him and worshipped. I mean if we are talking about “Steeze” nothing is bigger than this. The demon recognized that there’s a bigger power at play and ran to acknowledge the power (Mark 5:1-14). The story continues with the demons negotiating what to be done with it and all. If there’s one story that deepens the existence of the power of God for me, this is the story.
Even the devil recognizes who has the highest power. Even the devil knows that power pass power. Look at the story of Job, the devil knew that he could do no harm to Job without getting permission from God. I mean, the devil knew he couldn’t come near Job without permission. Do you see your life like this, or do you think a piece of cloth or flower has more authority than you.
The trick here is that the devil is relying on us lacking the knowledge of the authority we have in Christ and then he begins to make us fearful. He knows we are a people of power and he’s banking on us not knowing that.
So today, know that our God is the King of Kings, all power on heaven and on earth belongs to Him. So why fear, why worry, we are children of God and the Bible says He has given us power and authority so now all God’s power is mine because Christ lives in me. That is our reality.
